Weekend Buzz

I've been prepping all week for Tiana's baby shower (childhood friend Bryan Tune's wife). I was the official games coordinator! Haha! I think I may have been overly prepared, but that's just me. I had games, tie-breaker games, & back-up games....you know...just in case.

We played the Dirty Diaper game, where you smoosh up candy bars into diapers & guess which candy bar it is. When I opened up the package of diapers I couldn't believe how tiny they were, and to think a little person could wear these someday?!? Not Bella though. She's too big already, haha!

I also prepared a game where we played about 30 secs of a song from a Disney movie & they had to name the movie. We had some guests in attendance who were die hard fans because they were singing the words to the songs even before they were played....needless to say that woman won!

Of course we also did the yarn around her belly to see who could be closest to her circumference. The magic word of the day was "Baby"....get caught saying it and you lost your clothes pin off of my homemade necklace (which turned out cute if I do say so!)
It was nice to see all the woman in the family together for the shower. Such an amazing time in Tiana & Bryan's life now. It was weird to hear about Bryan's reaction to the baby & how he's planning for her arrival. This is the same guy who is like my big brother & would annoy me & pick on me as a kid....going to have a kid....I'm so excited for them both! It was a lovely shower!

After I got home from the baby shower Mike & I headed over to our friend Marshall's house, where as we found out we were going to partake in a late night jam session....aka....Rock Band! I myself have never understood what the draw to this game is? It takes some good hand-eye coordination to play well, the karaoke-like singing was fun to watch for a few minutes, but to be honest....
I fell asleep during the show! Haha... Katie, Ricky, Marshall, Mike....all one hit wonders!

Michael & I have been looking forward to seeing Transformers 2 at the IMAX in Fresno....but decided to check it out @ the theater by the house. Okay....so my unofficial, nobody probably cares, but gunna tell you anyway opinion is.....wait to rent it. It had a lot of action from beginning to end. Some funny one liners from the these 2 twin Autobots (that if you haven't heard, African Americans are a little pissed about the portrayal of their culture through these obviously black slang talking Transformers). It was long, so get you some popcorn & a soda, because you'll be there a while. It was, to me, just a lot of special unrealistic visual effects. You can appreciate the movie for the iconic value & a few hot faces, but a little overdone for me!

Falling In Line

So I have finished my first full week as a regular office biller *sigh*... this I think is a good thing for me. I've been wanting to slow it down & be home more. I need to be home for my doctor's appts, I don't want to miss out on any of my niece's & nephews activities (Anthony graduated 8th Grade--woo hoo!), I don't want to miss out on my 20's with my friends & husband! The state cutbacks have really hit my family hard with the company I work for, but I think it was a blessing in disguise. It was time overdue for some of us to part ways with the company. As cut-throat, two-faced, & thankless as some of the upper management can be....I firmly believe in charma, it will all blow up on them in the end! For now I just have to keep trudging along, all will be okay in the land of the scrubs....well sorta, the shirts are kinda uncomfy. Of course I was A LOT thinner the last time I wore them, haha! But that will soon change too :)
With all the stress of the changes of my routine & having to find a new car soon (I have to give back the company car @ the end of June) I can always count on Bella & Michael for a good laugh! She loves her little cow Moo-Me. I love watching her wrestle with Mike & pounce on Moo-Me! It's funny how she thinks she is "hiding" under the pillows before she pounces. Maybe she thinks she has Harry Potter's invisible cape or something, I dunno?!? But we see her!Going to Mooney's Grove in Visalia was a spur of the moment idea of mine this weekend. I was feeling the need to get out & go for a walk & the weather was beautiful today....not to hot, and a gentle breeze!
We walked the whole circumference of the pond, watching the ducks & swans swim. I was disappointed that I had not brought any crackers or bread for them, they go bananas for those treats. I did make a neat discovery scattered all about the water's edge.... feathers from the ducks! Which I preceded to snag a few to take home for Bella. She loves with a capital "L" playing with feathers! I hope the hot water & soap cleaned them off good enough....can cat's contract bird flu? Hope not!
Watching these guys cross the path was hilarious, because every few minutes groundskeepers would zoom past in their golf carts & the leader of the pack would halt dead in his (or maybe her) tracks....then resume across the grass to the water's edge.We were kinda bummed that the museum that's at the park was closed today. We've been there before years ago. It has lots of neat Indian & pioneer-like artifacts, & just information & photos of the early settlers who came through Visalia. Plus check out this HUGE tree stump & old clock tower (which Mike was quick to assure me was not displaying the correct time! *rolls eyes*)
Well time to fall in line like the ducks, tomorrow starts a new week....the only difference is that I don't feel the pressure I used to feel. The scrambling to pack & make sure all the chores are done & errands are planned. No more cramming in all my activities into 2 days. I'm going to be fine. I'm going to trust in charma.

You don't have to join the union to be striking...

So this weekend was the BIG state bowling tournament in Stockton. I think I overheard the announcer say over 985 teams (of 4 ppl on each team) signed up for this championship tournament! The tournament is every weekend for 2 months in order for all teams to compete. In addition to team series, there is a "Doubles" and "Individual" competition. Michael's team consisted of his Dad, Aunt Yvonne, & Doyle a local bowler from Hanford. It was so funny because Yvonne hasn't bowled in months....whereas the fellas bowl at least 1-2 times a week...and she was the one to come up with the BEST series for the 3 games that the team bowled on Saturday!
Meanwhile the bowling cheerleaders consisted of my mother-in-law, myself, Grandma Rose (Duane's mom) & Cousin Diane (in red). We hooped & hollared at every strike & winced at every 4-10 split or frame left opened. Let me tell you, I think I've exasperated all my terminology in these 3 short paragraphs, lol! I mean it's not that hard of a game to watch & understand...but I don't know if I could pull it off once I stepped up to the lanes! And with any sport (believe me I've heard a million times over argued that bowling is a sport) a beveredge is best enjoyed. My drink of choice of course is the Frog Juice...aka Medouri Sour. I think that it's hilarious to see that even some people actually bowl BETTER after a little alcohol consumption.
Take for example my husband Mr. 300.... who during "Doubles" had a very nice 247 game. It takes concentration & follow through (aka 5 Budlight Limes)...we were a little disappointed at the shortfall of a perfect game at State, but game well bowled!

To cap off the weekend we decided to eat at this little hidden Mexican place (haha, I know your thinking how hidden in the ghetto of Stockton could a good Mexican restaurant be?!). To much of a surprise, we had free entertainment to enjoy while chowing down on chimichangas & enchiladas! And who do you suppose they look at when questioned in ESPANOL which kind of song we would like to hear??...well it wasn't Grandma Rose!! Haha!!
